1- Mary Thielen and Peter Herbst  (31 April 1907)

HERBST-THIELEN MARRIAGE.

 

     Peter J. Herbst and Miss Mary Thielen were united in marriage at Sacred Heart church last Tuesday, Very Rev. B. A. Schulte officiating.  Following the nuptial highmass the party drove to the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thielen where they partook of the wedding breakfast and received the congratulations of relatives and intimate friends. They were the recipients of many valuable presents, In the evening a large gathering of young folks, including "Billy," enjoyed a good time at a wedding dance.

 

     The bride is a most estimable young lady, gifted with those womanly attributes that assure for the home over which she will preside the best gifts of fortune.  The lucky groom is a young man reared in this county, of sterling character and in every way qualified to make his way in life. The happy young people go to housekeeping here, accompanied by the best wishes of hosts of friends. We join in felicitations.





2-  Clara Langel & Conrad Bauer  (18 April 1928)

Langel-Bauer Wedding 

 

     Templeton was the scene of a pretty wedding Wednesday morning April 18, which took place at the Sacred Heart church at 8:30 o'clock when Conrad Aloysius Bauer and Miss Clara Josephine Langel were united in marriage. The Right Rev Fr. F. H. Huesmann officiated and also sang the nuptial high mass that followed. Rev. Fr. Pick was sub deacon.

 

     The attendants were Adolph Langel, a brother of the bride, and Miss Dominica Bauer, a sister of the bridegroom.

 

     The bride was beautifully dressed in a wedding gown of white georgette, trimmed with beads and rhinestones. Her headdress was a veil in coronet fashion. She carried a bouquet of white roses, sweet peas and fernery.

 

     Miss Bauer wore a rose colored georgette frock with hat to match. She wore tan footery and. carried a arm bouquet of pink roses and ferns.

 

     After the ceremony the wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents, where the dining room was decorated in white and rose, the bride's chosen colors. A reception was held during the day and the bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many beautiful gifts.

 

     The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Langel and very popular in her set. She received her education in the Sacred Heart school. The groom is one of Willey's well known farmers and is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bauer.

 

     The young couple will reside on farm two and a half miles south of Willey.

 

     Attending the wedding from a distance were Theo. Langel and son, Theodore, and daughter, Margaret, of LeMars, la.; Mrs. Joe Rolfes of LeMars, and Henry Uhlenkamp of Hopkinton, la.

 

     The Times joins with many friends in extending congratulations and best wishes.



3- Gladys Mary Reinart & Adolph Langel  (18 September 1928)

Langel-Reinart Wedding

 

     An interesting wedding of the early autumn took place at the St. Augustine church, Halbur, Tuesday morning, September 18 at 9 o'clock when Miss Gladys Reinart became the bride of Adolph Langel of Templeton. The ceremony was performed by Rev.  Schilmoeller in the presence of a large number of friends.

 

     The attendants were Miss Bertilla Reinart, a sister of the bride, and Joseph Langel, brother of the bridegroom. The bride was very lovely in a wedding gown of white crepe de chine made in basque effect with a skirt of the bouffant type. The basque had a large cape of beautiful lace. She wore the wedding veil in Grecian effect. Her maid was attractive in a frock of light blue silk, lace trimmed and wore a hat to correspond.

 

     Following the impressive ceremony the wedding breakfast and reception were enjoyed at the home of the bride's parents, the immediate relatives being the only guests. Garden flowers in all their beautiful colorings were used in decorating the dining room and the parlors.

 

     The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Reinart, and has many friends in the Halbur community, where she grew to young womanhood.

 

     The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Langel of Templeton and is a progressive young farmer, who has a fine home in readiness for his bride, located on a farm south of Halbur, which he has farmed during the past year. In the evening a reception was held at the spacious home of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Langel, south of Templeton, where a very enjoyable time was spent.

 

     Mr. and Mrs. Langel left Wednesday on an extended trip through Nebraska and Minnesota.

 

 

 


4-Mary M. Reinart & Wilben A. “Bud” Buucholz  (23 May 1937)

     Reinart-Buchholtz Nuptials Saturday

 

     Miss Mary Reinart of Halbur and Wilben A. Buchholz of Cadillac, Mich. were married at St. Joseph's Rectory in Carroll by Very Rev. P.T. Lynch.

 

     Attendants were Miss Genevieve Reinart of Halbur, sister of the bride, and Arthur Reinart of Carroll, cousin of the bride.

 

     The bride and her attendant both wore summer costumes.  The bride was attired in a white suit with white accessories.  Her bridesmaid wore a thistle dress, bolero style, with white accessories.

 

     The ceremony was followed by a reception for immediate relatives at the home of the bride's parents at Halbur.

 

     The bride, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Reinart of Halbur, has been employed at the Ben Franklin store in Carroll. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Buchholz of Minnesota.

 

     After a wedding trip to Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Buchholz will reside at Cadillac, Mich., where Mr. Buchholz is an auditor for the Swift Produce company.

 


5-  Lucille Reinart & Herbert L. Davis  (9 February 1937)

Miss Lucile Reinart Marries H. L. Davis In Church Ceremony

 

     Miss Lucile Reinart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reinart of Carroll, and H. L. Davis of Carroll, son of Mrs. H. B. Davis of Harlan, exchanged wedding vows at a ceremony at 7 o'clock Tuesday morning at Sts. Peter and Paul's church. The single ring service was read by the Rev. L. Schenkelberg, who also officiated at the nuptial mass.

 

     The bride was dressed in navy blue Romanette sheer crepe with swing skirt and short bolero jacket, trimmed in vale lace. Her wide sash of tangerine crepe gave contrasting color. She wore navy accessories and a small navy off-the-face hat of neora with baby pedaline trim and blush veil. Her flowers were a shoulder bouquet of white freesias and white carnations.

 

     Miss Alita Reinart, who attended her sister as bridesmaid, wore rust colored sheer crepe with peplum and swing skirt. Her accessories matched the brown button trim which extended from the round collar midway to the waistline. At the shoulder was a corsage of yellow freesias. She completed her ensemble with a brown grosgrain hat trimmed in portebonbuer with veil.

 

     The bridegroom was attended by LeRoy Reinart, brother of the bride. The church ceremony was followed by a wedding breakfast at the home of the bride's parents south of Carroll. The only guests outside of the immediate family were Rev. L. Schenkelberg, Dr. A. L. Fink and Miss Mary Reinart of Carroll and Mr. and Mrs. Wade Presnell of Scranton.

 

     The bride was graduated from the St. Angela academy in 1932. She is employed as office assistant in the Carroll county farm bureau office, in which capacity she will continue. Mr. Davis is manager of the F & R variety store at Carroll.



6- Olga Elsbecher & LeRoy Reinart  (4 April 1945)

Miss Olga Elsbecker Weds LeRoy Reinart in Church Service Today

 

     Miss Olga Elsbecker of Carroll, daughter of Mr. and  Mrs. Louis Elsbecker of Bancroft, and LeRoy Reinart, son  of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reinart of Carroll, were married at 8:30 this morning in St. John's church at Bancroft. The Rev. Father J. H. Schulte read the single ring service and nuptial mass.

 

     The entrance of the bridal party was announced with Lohengrin's Wedding March, and "Ave Maria" was played at communion.  Vocal selections were by St. John's Choral club.

 

     The bride wore a powderblue suit with brown accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Her only attendant was her sister, Miss Calista Elsbecker of Bancroft, who accompanied her brown suit with powder blue accessories and a corsage of camellias. Donald Elsbecker, nephew of the bride, was the best man 

 

     At 1 o'clock, a three-course wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride's parents. The table's centerpiece was the bride's three-tier blue and white cake, with a bouquet of sweet peas at either side. |

 

     Out-of-town guests were the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reinart of Carroll, Mrs. H.L. Davis of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Art Reinart of Storm Lake, Mr. and Mrs. George Toth of Livermore Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Elsbecker of Lone Rock.

 

     The bride, a registered nurse, is a graduate of the St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing. She has been on private duty here. Mr. Reinart was graduated from Carroll high school.

 

     Following a short trip, Mr. and Mrs. Reinart will reside on a farm five miles west of Bancroft.

 

 


7.  Viola Masching & Simon Langel  (21 January 1947)

Viola Masching and Simon Langel Wed In Double Ring Ceremony Here Today 

 

     SS. Peter and Paul's church was the setting at 8:15 this morning for the wedding of Miss Viola Masching, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Masching of Carroll, to Simon Langel, son of Mrs. Anna K. Langel of Templeton. The Rev. Father Lambert Schenkelberg read the double ring service and nuptial mass.

 

     The bride was gowned in white satin, with fitted bodice, V neckline, lace-trimmed yoke, long fitted sleeves and long full skirt with three-yard train. She wore a fingertip blusher veil attached to a beaded crown and edged with Chantilly lace matching the trim of her dress. She carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations tied with white satin ribbon. Streamers, knotted with ferns, cascaded from the bouquet. She wore a three-strand pearl necklace, the bridegroom's gift. Gifts to the bride from the bridegroom's mother were a white prayer book and rosary.

 

     Miss Juliana Masching, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and Miss Justina Langel, maid of honor.

 

     Miss Masching's gown was of blue taffeta with sweetheart neckline, shirred bodice, short puffed sleeves and net overskirt. Her headdress was a halo of rose colored flowers with shoulder-length circular blusher veil. She wore a strand of pearls and earrings which were the bride's gifts. She carried a fan bouquet of yellow daffodils tied with matching satin ribbon.

 

     Miss Langel's pink taffeta gown had three-quarter length sleeves, shirred bodice, sweetheart neckline, self-covered buttons down the back and double net overskirt. A shoulder-length circular veil was attached to her halo of blue flowers. Her pearls and earrings were gifts of the bride, and her blowers were pink carnations arranged in a fan-shaped bouquet tied with blue satin ribbon.

 

     Theodore Langel, brother of the bridegroom, was the best man. Leon Masching, brother of the bride, and Vincent Langel, brother of the bridegroom, were ushers.

 

     Miss Louise Florencourt, organist, announced the entrance of the bridal party with "Processional March" by Guilmant. SS. Peter and Paul's choir sang the "Mass in Honor Of Our Lady of Sorrows" by Bloom and Zeller's "Jesu Dulcis" at the offertory. Mrs. L. R. Chapman played the organ softly during communion. The recessional was played by Miss Florencourt.

 

     Immediately after mass, breakfast was served to the bridal party at the home of the bride's parents, where an all-day reception was held.

 

     Seventy guests were entertained at dinner and supper. A three-course dinner was served at two tables. The first dining room was decorated in white, pink and blue, the colors of the bride. Streamers in these colors led from the four corners of the room to the chandelier, from which a white bell was hung. The table was centered with a three-tiered cake decorated in the bride's colors and topped with a miniature bride and groom under a white bell. At either side of the cake were candles in twin crystal holders. Nut cups and other decorations were also in the bride's colors.

 

      The second table was centered with a two-tiered cake topped with a miniature bride and groom in a white bell. Both cakes were made and decorated by Mrs. Edward Schlichte, sister of the bridegroom.

 

     Dinner hostesses were: Mrs. John B. Hoffman, Mrs. Henry Venteicher, Mrs. William Kennebeck, Mrs. Margaret Brincks, Mrs. Clarence Masching and Mrs. Fred Berns, aunts and friends of the bride. They were assisted in serving by Mrs. Bert Louis, Anita Uhlenkamp, Irene Langel, Vernell Schlichte, Nathael Bierl and Marie Ramaeker, whose white aprons with pink and blue trim were gifts of the bride.

 


8.  Theresa Ann Veit & Merle Joseph Langel (24 February 1962)

Wedding of Theresa Veit and Merle Langel

 

     Theresa Ann Veit and Merle Langel were wed in a double ring service at ten o'clock Saturday, Feb. 24, at St. Joseph Church in Carroll, performed by the Rev. Eugene T. Schumacher.

 

     The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Veit, Odebolt; and the bridegroom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Langel, Templeton.

 

     Matching arrangements of white snapdragons and turquoise carnations,

accented with gold to show the bridal colors, were placed on the altar of the church. Traditional wedding selections were played by the organist; and St. Joseph's grade school choir sang.

 

     Attending the couple were the bride's niece, Caroline Sporleder Lidderdale; and the bridegroom's brother, Vernon Langel, Omaha. Guests were seated by another brother, Dennis Langel, Des Moines; and Lawrence Sporleder, Lidderdale, brother-in-law of the bride.

 

     For her late-February wedding, the bride was gowned in gold satin, complemented with gold mitts and shoes. Her dress was styled with a scoop neckline and short sleeves and was trimmed with satin roses on the same color.

Her headpiece was a pearl-trimmed crown, holding a gold-colored veil of silk illusion. A white rose corsage with sunbursting white hyacinth florettes and gold accents centered her cascade bouquet of weathered white carnations.

Miss Sporleder's dress of turquoise chiffon was designed with a bouffant skirt, short sleeves and jewel-satin belt. Her gloves and shoes matched her dress; and a cabbage rose of organiza, also of turquoise, held a silk illusion veil. She carried a hand corsage of turquoise-toned carnations, bows with white and gold satin.

 

     Thirty-five guests were entertained at dinner in the Ranch Room of Pauline's Cafe at 12:30. The wedding reception for 175 relatives and friends was held from two until five o'clock at the Moose Hall in Carroll.

 

     Mrs. Langel, a 1955 graduate of Kuemper High School, plans to continue her employment at St. Anthony Hospital. Her husband is manager of Felco Feeds Company at Templeton. He is a 1954 graduate of Sacred Heart High School,

Templeton.

 

     Upon their return from a ten-day wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Langel will reside at 514 North Court Street, Carroll, planning to be at home after March 7.




 

 

 



9- 40th Wedding Anniversay of Clem and Anna Langel  (1937)

 The Clem Langels Are Given Wedding Anniversary Surprise    

 

     Mr. and Mrs. Clem Langel were pleasantly surprised when a group of relatives and friends gathered at their home in Templeton Tuesday evening in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary.

 

     The evening was spent with cards, music and merry making and at a late hour a two-course lunch was served from well filled basket s brought by the guests.

 

     Mr. and Mrs. Langel were presented with a beautiful gift by their children. They also received many other gifts and tokens of remembrance.

 

     Those present were: Mr. and Mrs . A. H. Langel and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Langel and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Langel and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schlichte and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dopheide, all of Templeton; Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Bauer and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Bauer Jr., and family, of Willey; Henry Fangman and daughter, Rose, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Woslager and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kalkhoff and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lechtenberg and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fangmann and son, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fangmann and daughters, and Miss Matina Langel, all of Templeton.



10- 45th Wedding Anniversary of John and Emma Reinart  (1953)

John Reinarts Of Manning Note 45th Anniversary

 

     The children of Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart gave a party for their parents in the couple's home at Manning Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Reinart's 45th wedding anniversary was celebrated.

 

     The children gave an end table to their parents, who opened their other gifts later. Cards and bingo were, played before lunch was served.

 

     The anniversary cake was brought by Mr. and Mrs. Reinart's daughter, Mrs. John Sporrer of Carroll. Decorated in pink and white, it was trimmed with wedding bells and roses.

 

     Among participants were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Friedman and son of Halbur. Mr. and Mrs. Friedman had served as attendants at Mr. and Mrs. Reinart's wedding.

 

     Others in the group were: Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Reinart and daughter, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Reinart, Glidden; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Reinart and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hilbert Reinart and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Sporrer and family, Carroll; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hoffman and family and Mrs. Harry Ohms, Manning. One son, Leo Reinart, of Sioux City, was unable to be present, but he called by telephone to congratulate his parents.

 

 

 


 

 

11- 50th Wedding Anniversary of Nicolaus and Anna Backes  (1926)

GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY WAS CELEBRATED OCT. 1

 

Mr. and Mrs. Nick Backes of This City Married Fifty Years Ago.

Celebration Held at the Home Last Friday and Another Held Sunday Afternoon and Evening-.

 

     On Friday, October 1, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Backes celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home on Crawford street. The following near relatives were guests at this celebration: Mrs. Bertha Rose and son, Harry; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rose, Mr. and Mrs. John N. Backes and family, all of Carroll; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Truhe of Glidden, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Markley and family of Glidden, Mr. and Mrs. P. Reinhart and family of Halbur, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meisel and family of Brunswock, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hoffert of Halbur, Henry Rose and family of Carroll, Mr. and Mrs. William Meisel of Arlington, III.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Meisel and family of Mendota, Ill.; Mrs. Fred Meisel, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lamps of Mendota, III. Friends present were Julius Uelnowskl of Carroll, Mrs. Henry Billhorn of Mendota, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. G. Kluegel and son, Otto; Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Dierks, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Heuton, Mr. and Mrs. P. Clausen, Mr. and Mrs. C. Buschman. Mr. and Mrs. H. Buschman, all of Glidden.

 

     A very enjoyable day was spent by everyone present. Mr. and Mrs. Backes received, many beautiful presents, also many congratulations. It was at a late hour when most of the guests departed for their home.

 

     Another celebration of this golden wedding was arranged by the Ladies' Aid of the Lutheran congregation and was held Sunday evening at the church. The committee, Mrs. Henry Jansson, Mrs. John Plait and Mrs. A. C. Onken had left nothing undone to make also this celebration a success. Mr. and Mrs. Backes were greatly surprised and deeply affected when they were ushered into the church basement where they saw the members of the Aid and their families

assembled. Everyone congratulated the worthy couple and wished them God's blessing for the years to come. At about 6 o'clock supper was served by the Aid. The room was appropriately decorated, and the meal served was excellent. Also a huge wedding cake, with many candles, was not missing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the celebration, no one more, however, than Mr. and Mrs. Backes. At 7:30 o'clock a service was held in the church, the couple being seated before the altar. A hymn of praise was sung. Then Rev. A. J. Mueller preached a brief sermon. He then requested the couple to join their right hands. Prayers of thanksgiving were spoken and the blessing pronounced. The pastor then handed the celebrating couple a present from the Ladies' Aid.  Mr. and Mrs. Backes thanked everyone present most heartily. After the service several hours were spent by all in conversation.

 

     Nick Backes was born November 1, 1848, in Luxemburg.  In the year 1867 he came to Chicago where he stayed for a few months only. He then went to Mendota, III. Mrs. N. Backes was born May 3, 1857, at Mendota, Ill.  She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Meisel, who were known to many of our readers. They are laid to rest in the Carroll cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. N. Backes were married Oct. 1, 1876, at Mendota, Ill., by the Rev. J. G. Ade. For eight years they farmed near Mendota. In 1884 they came to Carroll county, la., and located on a farm in Roselle township. Since 1906 they have lived in Carroll at 126 North Crawford street. This happy marriage was blessed with three children, namely, Mrs. Bertha Rose and John N. Backes of Carroll, and Mrs. Anton Truhe of Glidden. There are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. and Mrs. Backes are charter members of the local Lutheran church and are still taking an active part in everything pertaining to church work. Sunday after Sunday you may find them in their church. That the members honor them highly was evidenced Sunday evening. — (Contributed.)

     HALBUR — Mr. and Mrs. Peter Reinart, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, January 23, began the festivities by attending 8 o'clock mass Saturday morning in their honor.

 

     At a 12 o'clock dinner Sunday in the parish hall, Mr. and Mrs. Reinart were hosts to the following relatives and friends: The Rev. H. B. Kramer, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Gehling and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thielen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Langel and family, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Eischeid and Joyce, Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart, Mr. Joe Reinart, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eich and Herbert, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thielen, Anna Ovel, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Eich, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hacker and Peggy Trecker.

 

     In the afternoon, open house was held for relatives and friends from 2 until 4 o'clock.

 

     Mr. and Mrs. Reinart were married at Axtell, Neb., January 23, 1905 by the Rev. Fr. Cronen. Attendants were Mr. Reinart's sister, Mrs. Anna (Reinart) Eich who has since passed away, and Mrs. Reinart's brother, John Schneider of Holdredge, Neb., who was not able to be here for the anniversary.

 

     Mr. and Mrs. Reinart's living children are: Mrs. Leo (Bertilla) Thielen, Manning; Mrs. Wilbur (Mary) Buchholz, Dextor, Mo., and Mrs. Lawrence (Genevieve) Gehling, Gilmore City. Another daughter, Mrs. Adolph (Gladys) Langel, died in 1940.

 

     They have 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

 

 


 

13- 50th Wedding Anniversary of Peter and Anna Thielen  (1955)

TEMPLETON—Honored on their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, March 6, were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thielen of Templeton.

 

     A family dinner was served in three courses at noon in the Sacred Heart Church hall here. Sixty- three relatives were guests.

 

     Open house from 2 to 4 o'clock, was attended by 150 additional guests.

 

     The dinner table was served, with the white linen cloth used at \the wedding 50 years ago.

 

     A three-tiered white cake, decorated in white and gold with roses and bells and topped with a gold wreath and "50th anniversary" centered the table. It was a gift of the children. White candles in crystal holders, tied with gold ribbon, were included in the arrangement.

 

     A bouquet of yellow jonquils and white snapdragons stood at each end of the first table and a bouquet of yellow and white pompons stood on each of the other

tables. Flowers were gifts of the grandchildren.

 

     Dinner was prepared by Mrs. Julia Goetzinger. Mrs. Peter Stein and Mrs. Tress Fox. It was servedby Lucille Lange, Eleanor Lange, Betty Kaikhoff and Ivadell Brunlng.

 

     Rose Kaikhoff was in charge of guest book. Betty Kaikhoff pinned gold bells on guests as they arrived.

 

     Mrs. Thielen wore a plum-colored dress and yellow carnation corsage. Mr. Thielen had a yellow carnation boutonniere. Mrs. Ben Lange of Carroll, sister of Mrs. Thielen and bridesmaid 50 years ago, wore a black dress and yellow carnation corsage. William Thielen, who served as best man wore a yellow carnation boutonniere. Each of Mr. and Mrs. Thielens' children, daughter-in-law and sons-in-law wore white carnations.

 

     Mr. Thielen and Anna Kalkhoff were married March 6, 1905 at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton by the late Rev. B. A. Schulte.

 

     They have lived in Templeton since their retirement 12 years ago.

 

     They are the parents of four children, all of whom were home for the  anniversary celebration.

 

     The children are: Mrs. Henry (Anna) Langel, Templeton: Mr. Leo Thielen, Manning: Mrs. Lawrence (Irene) Lutwitze, Dedham; and Mrs. John Kommes, Exira.

 

     Mr. and Mrs. Thielen have 11 grandchildren.

 

     Relatives attending from a, distance were Mr. William Thielen, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Herbst, Mr. John Thielen and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thielen, Plevona. Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Niles Kestersen and sons, Hornick; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kalkhoff, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Kalkhoff, Clemens, Minn.

 

     There were also many relatives and friends from Audubon, Exira, Manning, Halbur, Carroll. Dedham, Willey and Templeton.

50th Wedding Anniversary 

 

     Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thielen of Manning will celebrate their 50th wedding

anniversary Sunday, April 8, with a 9 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Manning. An open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Manning Legion Hall. The event will be hosted by the couple's children and their spouses. Melvin and Ray Thielen of Manning. Wendell and Marjorie Feilmeier of Carroll and Dan and Nylene Thielen of Manning, and their families. Leo Thielen and Bertille Reinart were married Feb. 6, 1934, in Halbur. 15- 60th Wedding Anniversary of Simon and Viola Langel  (2007)

Langel marks 60th

 

     Simon and Viola Langel of Carroll will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 21, 2007 with a 10 a.m. Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, followed by a dinner for immediate family.

 

     A family reunion picnic will be held in the summer.

 

     The couple have two children: Judy and Ron Mayer of Jordan, Minn., and Tom and Cindy Langel of Carroll; five granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

 

     Simon Langel and Viola Masching were married Jan. 21, 1947 at SS. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll.
